THE CHALLENGE AHEAD As KERV’s first Director of Security, you will build and lead our company-wide security program, responsible for safeguarding infrastructure, applications, and data across our cloud-based environment. This is a high-impact leadership role that will work cross-functionally with Engineering, DevOps, Legal, and Product to establish scalable practices and controls that support business growth and regulatory compliance. We’re looking for a strategic leader who’s just as comfortable in the weeds with incident response as they are presenting risk frameworks to the executive team. You’ll shape KERV’s security posture from the ground up. WHAT YOU’LL DO Define and implement a comprehensive security strategy across infrastructure, applications, and corporate systems Build and lead a small but mighty team of security professionals as needed Collaborate with Engineering and DevOps to ensure secure architecture, CI/CD, and cloud environments (primarily AWS) Lead risk assessments, vulnerability management, threat modeling, and incident response processes Oversee data protection policies and compliance with privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) Develop and implement secure development lifecycle (SDLC) practices Manage third-party security assessments and audit readiness (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001) Oversee Global Security Strategy: Develop and implement security policies, compliance frameworks, and risk mitigation strategies to support the company’s international expansion, ensuring alignment with regional regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, LGPD) and adapting security measures to diverse geopolitical, legal, and technological environments Act as a trusted advisor to leadership and staff on all things cybersecurity Champion a culture of security awareness across the organization through training and education WHAT YOU’LL BRING 8+ years of experience in information security, including at least 2+ in a leadership or principal role Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure security (especially AWS), application security, and DevSecOps best practices Experience driving security and privacy compliance efforts (SOC 2, GDPR, CCPA, etc.) Strong technical background – able to roll up your sleeves when needed Familiarity with modern web technologies, video pipelines, and data architecture is a plus Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical teams Demonstrated ability to build secure systems at scale in a fast-paced, agile environment WHY YOU’LL LOVE WORKING AT KERV We are a team of talented, kind people, driven by innovation.
