Job Title - Cost Estimator
Location - Muscatine, IA
Job Type – Hybrid
Stanley Consultants is currently seeking a Construction Cost Estimator for our Muscatine, Iowa office. This position develops and checks cost estimates for a variety of architectural, civil, industrial, institutional, federal and utility type projects. Overtime as needed. Some travel possible.
What You Will Be Doing: - Prepares material take-offs and reviews take-offs of others from planning documents or engineering drawings
- Prepares detailed breakdown of components and elements of estimates for systems and subsystems
- Prepares the submittal package including basis of estimate, quantity backup, cost data and estimate
- Accumulates, evaluates, and documents historical cost data for the development of future estimates
- Contact vendors and suppliers for current material costs
- Prepares and/or reviews final Engineer’s estimate
- Working knowledge of general construction practices and processes
- Work with the estimating department to assure that projects are progressing ahead in an effective and efficient manner
- Attend off site and in office meetings as required to coordinate efforts with external clients and internal estimating staff
Required Qualifications: - Associate or bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Requires 0 - 5 years of relevant experience
- Must possess the ability to read construction documentation
- Must possess strong PC skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications: - Previous construction experience
- Experience in scheduling and use of scheduling software
- Experience in MII Estimating software
- Experience with electronic take off programs
Stanley’s Approach to Flexibility While some members choose to work out of their local office on a full-time basis, we offer a hybrid schedule for eligible positions consisting of two days a week in the office, two days a week remotely, and Friday being a flexible day that can be worked either in the office or at home. Eligible roles can also offer a compressed workweek schedule. Members who participate will be assigned a 9/80 work schedule, meaning every other Friday off!
